1. City Learning Centre Banners

Community Arts London was commissioned to create a series of 6 wall hangings to mark the re-launch of an inner London City Learning Centre.
The themes for the artworks reflect the services that the centre provides: film, sound, internet, graphic design, animation and an annual event called School Report. The themes and images were developed through consultation with the management team.
The wall hangings are made from a range of sumptuous fabrics, including raw silk, velvet, taffeta and voile, enhanced with machine embroidery and appliqué techniques.

“I had many ideas for the effect I wanted to achieve with this project. Alice and Chloe took the time and effort to translate my thoughts creatively and imaginatively.
I was impressed with their in depth research, their analytical approach and their clear understanding of the brief. They were always available to discuss the various stages of the project. Chloe and Alice’s attention to detail ensured the banners were made to a very high quality.
Their project management was excellent, resulting in a very comfortable yet professional working relationship with all deadlines met. I found their enthusiasm infectious.
They translated my dream into reality.”
